My Activity Tracking
I’m an Engine of Change for our local hospital
This summer I am joining my cycling friends in Parry Sound to track my personal best and raise money for equipment at our Parry Sound hospital. Your donation means if something happens to any one when we are riding, playing or just simply hanging in the area, the Health Centre will have the equipment needed to provide the best care.
It also means I’m going to ride like the wind and challenge myself to my personal best. At the start, a rider has pledged 5 cents a kilometer for all the accumulated kilometers this event tracks. That means more money for equipment so I’m going for it!
Many people believe that in Canada, government funding pays for all our health care services. That’s not true. In Parry Sound, government funding covers only 65% of operational costs. Our Health Centre needs to raise $20,000,000 a year to balance the budget. Those revenues come from contracts, parking, leasehold arrangements and other services. All major equipment is bought by donors to the Foundation.
So please join me, and help our local hospital buy the best in equipment. The current greatest need is replacing the 15-year-old x-ray systems that the supplier has deemed end-of-life December 2020. The total expense is $1.6 million. A first $200,000 mobile x-rary is nearly completely funded by donations. A second is required so I’m going to ride like the wind to help change up that old x-ray.
Your pledge means you will join me in becoming part of the Engine of Change at the Hospital.
I can hear your motor running!
Thanks for any help you can give.
