When can I make my moves?

Whenever you fancy.  Do as you please. Sign up any time before May 30 to track your moves and blow past your goal.

What am I fundraising for?

Join us at and you will support cardiac care throughout the Health Centre.  Our Defibrillators located in patient care areas have been deemed out of service in 2022 by the supplier.  Your support THIS MAY will help buy our replacement Defibrillators.  Because we will be buying similar Defibrillators to our Ambulance system, we no longer require the 2 mobile units… making our ultimate replacement purchase 9 Defibrillators.  Great News… we already have money banked for 2 defibrillators just 7 more are needed.  Any pledges collected above the $155,000 goal will be designated to the next priority of the Health Centre.

Wondering about the difference between an AED (est $1,200) and our 9 defibrillators ($17,000 each) located throughout the hospital?

AED (Automatic External Defibrillators) computer analyzes the heart rhythm and determines if shock is advised or not. Used mostly in communities settings, persons trained in CPR are trained to apply and use the AED while waiting for advanced trained personal ie) EMS to arrive on scene. Their only function is to identify electrical fibrillation (heart is not functioning correctly). Using “shock” can restart the heart into normal function.

Defibrillators on our Emergency carts in hospital are manual; Physicians/Nurses analyze the rhythm and determine if shock would benefit the patient. They are also helpful for all ECG rhythms, not only in cardiac arrest, but can identify rhythms before the patient gets into a cardiac arrest situation and those rhythms can be “cardioverted” or corrected before the heart stops pumping. Also, our Defibrillators have the ability to act as a temporary pacemaker to keep someone’s heart beating until a pacemaker can be inserted. They do much more than just restart the already stopped heart. The new monitor/defibrillators will also give real time feedback to the professionals doing CPR.

Is there a minimum needed to participate?

None.  Set a goal.  Go for it.  Even, blow past it.  When you set a personal distance goal and a donation is received, our tracking will divide your goal by the donation amount and share how much per kilometre you just FUNraised! No registration fee at sign up.  No minimum pledges.  But pledges count big time!  We need you to gather as many pledges as you can.  It is all about health.  Your goal each day will pump your heart and your pledges will keep hearts pumping at the Health Centre!  And that is what it is all about.

Am I eligible for a prize?

You bet you are! We want to keep you refreshed with your very own YETI cup. The prizes relate to the pledges you gather. Raise more and receive a bigger cup. It’s all up to you!
